New Delhi : Vuclip, the world’s largest independent mobile video and media company, will reveal the findings of its survey on ‘Empowerment of Women’ at Tarang, the annual cultural festival of Lady Shri Ram College and one of the most popular and awaited festivals of Delhi University. The mega event will commence on February 8 and conclude on February 10. The theme of the fest for this year is 100 years of Cinema with a focus on Gender Empowerment. More than 67,000 respondents participated in this nationwide survey. The findings will be unveiled at ‘Blitzkrieg’, the debating contest unique to Lady Shri Ram College, which will have participation from nearly 30 colleges in Delhi University.

As part of this survey, Vuclip aimed to find views from the respondents on some of the burning issues that society faces today with regard to women’s safety, such as actions for fighting crime against women, reasons for the increase in rape cases and the punishment that should be handed out to rape convicts. In order to empower women with basic survival skills, Vuclip’s dedicated mobile video channel for women, Mira!, has also showcased video clips on self-defense which can be watched on any internet-enabled mobile handset. Mira! also features thousands of videos related to yoga, aerobics and fitness, fashion and style, food and cookery, along with Bollywood videos and popular TV shows. For its women’s channel, Mira!, Vuclip has also conducted interviews with 10 women leaders including savvy opinion leader and novelist Shobhaa De; noted food writer and celebrity chef Tarla Dalal; one of the most powerful Indian business women and social activists Padmashree Lila Poonawalla; and Indian shooter Anjali Bhagwat on gender empowerment, which will be showcased during the Tarang festival. Tarang is known for bringing together the best student talent from across the country in fields of music, dance, dramatics, debating, fine arts, films, photography and other areas of art and culture.

Commenting on the activities being sponsored and conducted by Vuclip, Jumi Gogoi, President, Students’ Union, Lady Shri Ram College, said “With Vuclip onboard, we have managed to up the ante on women power!
