    Published on July 3, 2018

Train services of the Western Railway came to a halt for a short while after a part of a road-over bridge collapsed this morning in Mumbai’s Andheri. Fortunately no train was passing beneath the track at the time of collapse. Five people were grievously injured in this mishap.

Train services have now partially resumed. Overhead Equipment has been damaged. The bridge collapse came after a spell of heavy rains in Mumbai. Meanwhile railway minister Piyush Goyal ordered inquiry into the incident.

The iconic dabbawalas of Mumbai have announced the suspension of lunch tiffin services for today because of the disruption of services on Western Railways.

Heavy rains in Mumbai and its suburbs on Tuesday morning caused water logging in several low-lying areas.  There have been continuous showers from Monday night in Mumbai and its suburbs.  Water logging was reported from areas including Dadar, Parel, Sion, Powai and Kandivli.
