Haflong : With the motto “to explore Diyung River”, the first ever adventure sports event “white water rafting expedition” has been organized by Dima Hasao Adventures’ Association (DHAA) which was flagged-off by Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa on July 21, 2021 at CEM’s Guest House.

Rafting towards their destination Kopili River from Jorai River, 13 (thirteen) participants including the raft guide men Ankur Sarania & Gibinda Boro and supported guides Abinash Hojai & Sarporaj Hojai have floated through the waves of Dimainubra, Dehangi, Thaijuwari, Simbao and Batohaja with minimal intervals whereby reaching their destination on the 5th day followed by welcoming ceremony arranged by the members of the Dimasa Students’ Union.

“There is a scope for water rafting at Diyung River and, as such, if once focuses, the river can be one of the best destinations for white water rafting”, guide man opined.

DHAA which often entrust oneself with the initiatives for exploring Dima Hasao in the field of adventure sports events likewise rock-climbing, zip lining, rappelling, trekking etc while extending their heartfelt gratitude to Dimasa Students’ Union and Dima Hasao Angling and Rafting Association for their assistance; have stated that they will leave no stone unturned for exploring the hill station in organizing such adventure sports event in forthcoming days for which they sought for support of the denizens.

Thankful to Shri Piyush Goyal ji, former Minister of Railways, Government of India, for successful planning and implementation of Vista Dome coaches in the NF Railway on his direction to the Railway authorities back then in 2018. It will operate from Guwahati to New Haflong on Saturdays initially. This is an important venture for tourist upliftment, as the scenic beauty of our District gets proper exposure and the welldeserved appreciation and shall benefit economy of the local denizens with advent of more tourists to our place.
