The winter session of Manipur Legislative Assembly ended today. Three government Bills have been passed in the last and second day of the session.
The Bills are – the Manipur Protection from Mob Violence Bill, 2018; the Manipur Goods and Services Tax(Amendment Bill), 2018 and the Manipur International University Bill, 2018.
Replying to a call attention motion raised by Congress MLA Kh. Joykishan in the State Assembly today, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, five Manipur Police personnel have been suspended in connection with the custodial dead of Md. Abdul Gafar of Lilong Usoipokpi under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal District.
The Chief Minister said, custodial dead is unlawful and action has been taken up to show the firm stand of his government against the custodial dead.
He also said, an FIR has been lodged at Lilong Police Station against the personnel of Manipur police and Assam Rifles who were involved in the incident.
The Chief Minister further said, ex-gratia will be given as per governments rule and a government job will be given to one of the family members of the deceased.
