  • New Delhi : The 5th Edition of the Women Car Rally 2013 from New Delhi to Rishikesh will feature approximately 50 – 70 participant teams. Starting from 29 March 2013 to 31 March 2013, the rally has been formulated under the aegis of Team I Sports the 3 day rally  will keenly seek to highlight core concerns including Safety, Women Empowerment, and Breast Cancer.

    This unique campaign of fun adventure sport, competition and Serious messages concerning today’s society has seen support from an ideal mix of professional rally drivers alongside volunteers.

    “We plan to explore more cities in future. We may soon be seen in Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pune and Bangalore” apart from Delhi, said a spokesperson from I Sports.

    The previous expeditions of the rally included New Delhi to Jaipur to New Delhi – September 24 – 25, 2011, New Delhi to Jaipur and back – April 2nd & 3rd 2010, New Delhi to Agra on October 2 – 3, 2013 and September 18 – 21, 2008 from New Delhi – Bikaner – Jaisalmer – Jodhpur – Jaipur.

    Teams, consisting of a women driver and a navigator, attempts to travel the specified route at exactly the specified speeds. The Rally is a Time Speed Distance (TSD) event that comprises a set of instructions specifying a route to travel, and a speed at which to travel (the speed would not exceed the maximum permissible speed for that road). The team is scored on how closely to the correct time they arrive.

    It shall be executed under the directions and watchful eyes of Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the Indian counterpart of Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). It will be a perfect combination of Women empowerment and emancipation as it gives women an opportunity to compete on the road through specified routes, speed calculations and spreading the message for taking care of their own health all together.

    The rally is open to both male and female participants. However, the wheel should be in the hands of a female only and an all women team would be given incentives while deciding the winner.

    The rally would be passing through picturesque countryside. It also frisks Rajaji National Park,  famous for its large number of Elephants. This would help participants understand the on ground state of affairs and also help in bringing forth the issue to the nearby villages.

    This Women Car Rally is a unique campaign for spreading awareness on three very important issues: The saying: Save the Elephant and Save the Forest so as to catch the attention of the locals’ en route. The route of the rally will take them into the interiors of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to spread the concerns.

    The schedule for the rally is as follows:

    March 28th – Scrutiny of all the participating cars and Drivers briefing session in Hard Rock Café, and ceremonial flag off at DLF Place, Saket, New Delhi.

    March 29th – Rally would be flagged off early morning from DLF Place Saket, New Delhi to Rishikesh. The route will be passing through the picturesque landscape of the vicinity of Rajaji National Park.

    March 30th – Rally would be flagged off again for day 2 from Haridwar and and the rally would be over around afternoon.

    March 31st – Prize Distribution and Closing ceremony will be held in Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant.

    Womens Car Rally 2013 is being supported by Yokohama Tyres giving away a set of tyres for pro category winners + T-shirts and Caps for participants, Hard Rock Cafe and DLF Place Saket as Venue partners for Scrutiny of all the cars, ceremonial flag off and flag off, Travelomate, as travel awarding travel packages to Jaisalmer for 2 winning teams, Vivafit, Dhoombox, Ashmita is giving away Kurta for all the participants, Tupperware,  Blue Terra Spa,  Delight Gifts, Anuradha Ramam, Anchal Kumar, New U, Himalayan Hospital, Hotel Park Grand, LetterNote, Vitamin in Water Drink “WILD WATER” & Unique Uniforms among others.
