Workers met tragic death at Kharupetia in Assam’s Darrang district

Mangaldai  : In a tragic incident that occurred on Monday in Kharupetia town of Darrang district two workers breathed their lasts inside a new septic tank .  According to Ganesh Ghosh , a ward commissioner of Kharupetia Municipal Board Saha Alam , a Mason by profession along with his fellow worker Safikul Islam entered into the under constructed septic tank in the residential campus of one Manik Saha of Tilapatti , ward no-4 of the town . However after few time owner  Saha when called them , he failed to find any response . Suspecting some danger , Saha also entered into tank only to find both the workers in unconscious state . He raised a hue and cry when local people gathered and first helped him get out of the tank . Later, police from  Kharupetia Police Station led by Officer in Charge Sub Inspector Chandan Goswami stormed in the rescue operation with the help of  members of the local fire and emergency service rescued both the workers in a critical and rushed to Kharupetia Primary Health Centre and then to Mangaldai Civil Hospital where they were declared dead . The reason for their deaths is to be ascertain only after the post mortem report but doctors have suspected it to be case of heart failure due to acute shortage in supply of Oxygen .
