  • With the third United Nations International Day of Yoga just around the corner, yoga enthusiasts in India and several other countries have already began participating in events to mark the occasion.

    Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inspected preparations of Yoga Day celebrations, to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ramabai Ambedkar Ground. Thousands of Yoga enthusiasts will join the Prime Minister on June 21st to mark the 3rd International Yoga Day.

    Yoga guru Baba Ramdev kick started celebrations for the annual International Yoga Day in Ahemdabad on Sunday. Baba Ramdev kept hundreds of yoga enthusiasts on their toes with his asanas and wit at the yoga event. The Yoga camp has been organized in Ahmedabad ahead of International Yoga Day.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared photographs of the Yoga Day celebrations in several countries through his Twitter handle. In Japan, Yoga Day programme was organized in Kyoto on Sunday which witnessed strong participation including by the Mayor of Kyoto. The celebrations were also held at Wenzhou in China.

    Flow of Freedom session was organized at Landscape Terrace at Asia Society in Hong Kong. Excellent weather was witnessed during celebrations of 3rd IDY.

    Yoga enthusiasts also participated in the International Day of Yoga celebration in Indonesia’s Jakarta and Chile’s Santiago. The third International Yoga Day is going to be special for students of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in Lucknow. They are among 150 students selected to perform yoga with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21st June.

    These students are waiting for the occasion when they will join thousands of others. They have already started practicing yoga in the university campus.
