Vijayawada: Ankura Hospital , a premier hospital for women and children celebrated the Light of Life with Preterm babies and their families on the occasion of the World Prematurity Day. Preterm birth (before the 37th week of pregnancy) is the leading cause of death in children under the age of five. Each year, about 15 million babies worldwide are born preterm, that is about 1 in 10 children. This day is intended to increase the awareness about pre-term deliveries and the concerns of pre-term babies and their families.
The celebration of World Prematurity Day at Ankura Hospital, included a felicitation of all the doctors, nurses and other support staffs who were a part in saving lives of pre-term babies.
The real heroes were preterm babies and their parents were invited for the program at Ankura Hospital. And altogether celebrated the success.
So far Ankura Hospital has saved lives of over 250 preterm babies and has a 98% success rate in handling preterm deliveries.
