
Kochi: The youth must be empowered to seize employment opportunities in emerging technologies, said Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh. The Minister was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the International Conclave of ICT Academy of Kerala, held at the Adlux Convention Centre in Angamaly. The state government aims to transform Kerala as an intellectual community when it comes to IT and allied fields. The rapid advancements in the technology field have generated increased job opportunities. The Minister remarked that Kerala is uniquely positioned in India to capitalize on these opportunities being created at the global level. Although the emergence of Artificial Intelligence has created an ambiguity in employment market, ICT Academy is moulding their students to seize innovative employment opportunities AI is creating now. He has also stated that, in the new era of emerging technologies, knowledge and ideas are the greatest assets. “Technology is revolutionizing both social life and the employment sector,” said Muraleedharan Manningal, CEO of ICTAK. Dinesh Thampi, Vice President & Head – TCS Operations, Kerala) presided over the event.
Other eminent personalities who delivered their speech in the event include R. Latha, (Program Director, IBM India Software Labs), Sinjith Sreenivas (Regional Manager, Academic Operations, ICT Academy of Kerala), and Sajan M. (Head, Academic Operations, ICT Academy of Kerala). Following the inaugural ceremony, a workshop was conducted in collaboration with Google for Developers and India Edu Program, during which Dr. Saji Gopinath (Vice Chancellor, Digital University & KTU) spoke on the topic Quantum Leap: AI & Beyond. An expert panel discussion was also held in the afternoon on various topics.
The closing session held in the evening was inaugurated online by P. Rajeev, the Minister of the Department of Industries. Maya Mohan, Knowledge Officers of ICTAK, and Dr. Sreekanth D, Head, Solutions and Research, ICT Academy of Kerala, also participated in the programme.
In recognition of each individual institution’s contribution to the development of the state in the IT sector, the conclave presented awards to Jyothi Engineering College, Thrissur (Best Member Institution-Engineering), Government Polytechnic College, Perumbavoor (Best Member Institution-Polytechnic), Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara (Best Member Institution – Arts & Science), Capt. Ibrahim Salim M., Assistant Professor, MES College, Marampally (Best Institutional Knowledge Officer) and Info park, Kochi (Best Ecosystem Partner in Central). The I.C.T. Academy of Kerala presented a special award to UST for being the best placement and recruitment partner.
