Mangaldai : Mangaldai town has survived a major disaster on Sunday night as several new motorcycles have been gutted in a devastating fire that gulfed a workshop of a Motorcycle sub 
dealer at around 11 o’ clock on Sunday night. The workshop of the Adarsh Hero Servicing Centre, reportedly a sub dealer of Hero Motors, located behind its showroom at the LNB road of the town caught fire before fire fighting squad of Mangaldai with the help of local people brought the situation under control in a war footing manner after almost three hours. Superintendent of Police, Darrang Sreejith Thiraviam on Monday visited the spot to assess the necessary safety measures to be followed by the business establishment of such nature. Meanwhile on being asked, proprietor of establishment Shyam Sukha informed this correspondent to have damage of a total of twenty new vehicles and other repairing materials to the tune of more than Rs 15 lakhs. The proprietor also mentioned electric short circuit as the cause of the fire.
