Haflong : The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) condemned the recent crime against Mrs Nunsiami Nampui of New Sangbar village, Umrangso.
The press release signed by Lalhaothang Haolal, President, and David S Changsan, General Secretary maintained that in an act unbecoming of a modern society, she had been abducted from her home on the 20th of May, 2021 by some miscreants from Bangphiri village on the illogical accusation of her being a witch and had been subjected to torture and injury subsequently, due to which she is undergoing medical treatment currently.
The Kuki Students’ Organisation, as a responsible civil body, believed that this crime must be dealt with in an exemplary manner such that such illogical acts are discouraged and not allowed to hinder their strides in the right direction. They have sympathy with the victim and her family, and call out for a stringent legal action against the perpetrators.
Mention may be made here that on 20/05/2021, some miscreants from Bangphiri Village abducted Smt. Nunsiami Nampui, wife of Sri Loma Nampui from her residence at New Sangbar on the wild and illogical accusation of her being a witch. Subsequently, she was subjected to unbearable torture inflicting blood – spilling injury to her body especially the head by inhumane beating. She was also rubbed with wild, toxic and itchy leaves causing rashes and grave allergic reaction. The heinous act did not end there. She was then locked up in a room and torture so badly that she fainted. On regaining consciousness, she found that her clothes were torned out and underwear removed. Her body was aching all over and now she is experiencing bleeding from her genitals. This clearly indicates what brutal abused that must have been inflicted on her. An FIR has already been filed to the Officer-in-Charge of concerned Umrangso Police station on 24/05/2021. Meanwhile Umrangso police has arrested six persons from Bangphiri and were sent to jail.
