
Kolkata — Vikram Solar, a driving force in India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem, today announced the appointment of Mr. Arun Mittal as the Chief Executive Officer of VSL Powerhive, its wholly owned subsidiary, established to meet India’s growing demand for energy storage systems and solutions.
As energy storage becomes central to grid stability, peak management, and round-the-clock renewable power, VSL Powerhive will play a pivotal role in anchoring the company’s ambition toward an integrated energy transition solutions company.
With the commissioning of the new 5 GW facility, Vikram Solar’s module capacity has more than doubled from 4.5 GW to 9.5 GW. The company is now executing the next leg of its growth plan with a further 6 GW module expansion underway, set to raise total capacity to 15.5 GW. This is complemented by a 12 GW solar cell capacity currently being executed for commissioning in FY27, reflecting the company’s commitment to deepening backward integration and strengthening India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem.

Mr. Mittal brings more than three decades of leadership experience across battery manufacturing, energy storage design, and strategic business transformation. Most recently, as Managing Director & CEO (India) at Lohum Cleantech Pvt. Ltd., he strengthened India operations and advanced cutting-edge models in battery recycling and circular-economy frameworks. Prior to this, he served as Managing Director & CEO, Exide Energy Solutions Ltd., where he played a central role in defining Exide’s lithium-ion mobility storage manufacturing blueprint.
His 31-year tenure at Exide Industries Ltd., where he rose from Management Trainee to Executive Director of the Automotive and Industrial Divisions, was marked by innovation, market expansion, and capability building. He is also a member of ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI.
