Mumbai : Reaffirming its commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable society, Punjab National Bank (PNB), nation’s leading public sector bank, celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities at its Corporate Office in New Delhi under this year’s theme of “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Society for advancing social progress”.
The event was honoured by the presence of PNB MD&CEO Shri Ashok Chandra, Chief Guest Shri Munna Khalid, International Para-Badminton Player & PhD Scholar, CVO Shri Raghvendra Kumar, and senior officials of the Bank.
The event marked a significant milestone with the unveiling of PNB’s Braille Credit Card, designed to provide greater accessibility to visually impaired customers. The Bank also extended sponsorship to the Deaf Sports Association of Delhi for the 7th Delhi State Games and provided CSR support to The New Learning Heights Special School & Remedial Center, reinforcing its sustained commitment to empowerment and inclusive development. PNB further recognised the exemplary contributions of specially-abled employees.
Addressing the gathering, PNB MD&CEO Shri Ashok Chandra spoke passionately about the extraordinary strength and determination displayed by specially-abled persons. Referring to the journeys of individuals such as Shri Munna Khalid, National Martial Arts champion Akshay Patel, and mountaineer Arunima Sinha, he emphasised that belief in one’s capabilities can help overcome even the toughest obstacles. He added, “This day serves as a reminder that what we have is enough to excel, contribute, and make life and society more beautiful.” Shri Chandra also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by PNB to support specially-abled employees and announced the sponsorship of Shri Munna Khalid’s participation in the upcoming BWF Para Badminton World Championship 2026 at Bahrain.
CVO Shri Raghvendra Kumar, in his address, emphasised that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not just an annual observance but a global call to action. He said: “True inclusion requires a fundamental shift in mindset and systems. When we invest in inclusion, everyone benefits. Inclusive workplaces are more innovative and profitable.”
To mark the occasion, PNB felicitated several specially-abled employees – the PNB Warriors, for their outstanding performance and contribution to the bank’s business.
Through the launch of its Braille Credit Card, sustained CSR interventions, employee-friendly policies, and a strong culture of recognition, PNB continues to advance its mission of fostering inclusivity at every level.
