Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Working President Nitin Nabin is set to become the new President of the Party. Party National Returning Officer, Dr K. Laxman, announced that only the name of Nitin Nabin was proposed for the post of National President of the BJP. However, the formal announcement for his election as the new National President will be made today.
Dr Laxman informed that all 37 sets of nomination papers were received in favour of Nitin Nabin for the post of National President. On scrutiny, all sets of Nomination Papers were found to be duly-filled up in the required format and were valid. BJP National President J P Nadda, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and other members of the BJP’s Parliamentary Party Board proposed the name of Nitin Nabin for the post of National President.
The BJP’s national president is elected by an electoral college comprising representatives from the party’s national council and state councils. At present, the post is held by Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. Mr Nadda was appointed as the BJP’s National Working President in June 2019 and was later elected unopposed as party president in January 2020, succeeding then President Amit Shah.
