New Delhi, 1st August 2023: In a landmark initiative aimed at taking forward and translating the visionary NEP 2020 principles into actual practice, Zamit, a leading AI-enabled one-stop solution provider for the school ecosystem, teamed up with QAI, UK and successfully conducted a Continuous Professional Development or CPD programme for teachers at one of the top schools in Dehradun. Aptly and explicitly titled How to implement NEP 20 recommendations for classroom teaching, the programme held at the prestigious Welham Girls’ School and attended by nearly 100 teachers has been a roaring success. Notably, Qualifications and Assessment International or QAI is UK’s leading private international awarding body that offers qualifications, assessments and certifications with a focus on success in the 4th Industrial Age. The CPD programme was delivered offline in a face-to-face setting and was organised over a period of one to two days.
Some of the topics covered at the CPD programme were as follows: The vision of the NEP 2020 for teaching and learning; Putting the NEP into practice – Focus on the student; Putting the NEP into practice – Focus on classroom practice; and Putting the NEP into practice: Focus on Assessment.

Apart from mandating 50 hours of CPD for teachers focused on latest pedagogies and content, it has put in place a merit-based incentive mechanism in the form of Career Management and Progression or CMP with a view to help teachers achieve vertical mobility. Additionally, the NEP 2020 has also envisaged clear professional standards for teachers in the form of National Professional Standards for Teachers or NPST, an imperative in an online age continually witnessing proliferation of new schools and ever-growing number of teachers. So, being mindful of NEP 2020, the aim of this CPD was to help teachers gain an understanding of various stages of its implementation, examine best practices for effective change in schools, learn how to shape an actionable and well-communicated implementation strategy, how to ensure that the NEP 2020 achieved its intended outcomes, and how to put the NEP 2020 recommendations into practice with regards to students, classroom practice and assessment. Armed with these insights, I am certain that the teachers would be able to contribute better towards a competency-based, student-centred learning environment while also improving the future-readiness of both themselves and their pupils,” added Mr Malaviya.
At the end of the programme, the attendee teachers underwent an end-of-course evaluation and received varied certificates based on their individual performance.
