Kochi: The Kochi Corporation has joined hands with the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, the only marathon in Kerala affiliated under the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). Mayor V.K. Minimol said she is happy to associate with the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which places Kochi firmly on the global sports map. She added that the Kochi Marathon has evolved into a permanent cultural symbol of the city and assured the Corporation’s full cooperation for the success of the event.
The partnership marks a major step towards Kochi’s vision of becoming an international “marathon hub,” on the lines of the Mumbai and Dubai marathons. The Corporation’s direct involvement reflects the strong bond the city has developed with the Kochi Marathon, evident from the growing enthusiasm witnessed over its last three editions. The event is also expected to provide a significant boost to Kochi’s tourism and economic sectors.
Mayor Minimol noted that the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon will play a key role in promoting a healthier lifestyle among citizens and in building a fit and vibrant society. She added that such initiatives can help steer the youth away from drug addiction and contribute positively to the mental well-being of people across age groups.
Anish Paul, Director of CleoSportz, said that only a healthy population can create a dynamic city, and the Corporation’s partnership is proof that the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon has truly won Kochi’s heart through its past editions. He added that prominent national-level athletes will participate in the marathon, which also serves as a qualifying event for several world-class international marathons.
The Federal Bank Kochi Marathon will be held on February 8 under the theme ‘Move with Purpose.’ Registrations are open until February 3 through the official website: https://kochimarathon.in.
