Mumbai: The highest TRP show in the afternoon slot “Hamari Devrani” has 
completed 4 years. The popular series which recently completed 750 episodes has a new lead in Eva Ahuja who plays the character of Vrinda, the new devrani. The series has taken a generation leap recently and is continuing its popular run. Hamari Devrani replaced the popular series Bhabhi when it debuted in May 2008.
The story moves ahead with the daughter (Aastha played by Vidhi Sindhwad) of the earlier lead Bhakti Mohan (Krishna Gokani, who passed away at Aastha’s birth) growing up with the love of the five jethanis of the Nanavati family. At Aastha’s insistence for a mother, the jethanis reluctantly agree but hire a struggling actress to play her mother and dissuade her through her vampish behaviour. Eva Ahuja, who plays Vrinda the new mother, falls in love with her new found daughter and does a volte-face from the plan and in consequence faces the ire of the Nanavati Jethanis.
Says Eva Ahuja, “It’s great to be part of the much loved series and a great responsibility to shoulder for a show that has ruled the afternoon slot for four years”. Eva has done theatre working with the likes of Rohini Hatangadi and Sudha Chandran. She has also featured in popular Hindi serials like Pavitra Rishta and Astitva. The show has won several awards on TV and is being produced by Shobhana Desai Productions for Star Plus.
