PortsideCafe- Leather Furniture Boutique in India and Luxembourg has added another feather to it’s cap by winning the Best Collection Furniture in GoodHomes Awards 2014. Mr Bobby Aggarwal, Product Designer and Director, PortsideCafe had received the award at the ceremony that was held in Mumbai. The unique award show facilitates the best in the field of decor and architecture. PortsideCafe, opened in 2007 is a store brimming with original ideas, be it leather-clad beds, bars, sofas, tables or other must-have home and office accessories.
Each piece – hand crafted and hand-finished using an array of innovative staining techniques – is a testament to PortsideCafe’s founder and designer, Bobby Aggarwal’s craftsmanship melded with novel design. With wood and leather being the primary materials, accents of metal have been used to create both functionality and style in the products. Add to this an array of unique finishes and stiches, bold treatments on leather, vibrant colours, intricate details, and easy elegance, all of which come together to make PortsideCafe’s unique collection.
Every collection is influenced by a variety of factors… the vibrancy of the colours that surround me, the humming, pulsating streets; old architecture, music and even Bollywood play a huge role in his creative process.
“My inspiration comes from a sub-conscious level, but not without catalysts from the outside World. Clint Eastwood and Gregory Peck classics, with their leather saddles and holsters, movies like Out Of Africa and Agatha Christie’s mysterious characters with their heavy luggage on the Orient Express, have all had a major impact on my formative years and influenced my design sensibilities,” explains Bobby.
The primary vision of PortsideCafe is to add zest to your home with the inclusion of a standalone piece in your living area, another in your bedroom or even one in your dressing room ! The whole idea is to make a statement with individual pieces, rather than taking over an entire space with one style.
