Chennai : Three Indian based architectural and design firms won the 1st prize at AIT Award 2012 held in Germany recently for the public buildings and
office (Interior) categories. The Indian based projects were selected amongst 1,750 entries from 47 countries. Arun Nalapat Architects, Bangalore won for the “Star – 2, Strides“ project in Bangalore, Sandeep Shikre & Associates, Mumbai won for “Mudra House Mumbai“ project in Mumbai for the office interior category and in the public building interior category- Morphogenesis, Delhi won for Chettinad Health City Auditorium project in Chennai.
AIT-Award is a globally recognized award for the very best in interior and architecture space, organized by the international magazine for architecture and interior design AIT. The award ceremony took place at Frankfurter Messe recently. Architecture and interior projects from all over world were invited for submission across 20 different award categories. Projects submitted ranged from the classical residential buildings, home interiors, opera house, showrooms, shopping centre, museum, school building, bar etc.
A jury consisting of internationally renowned architects and interiors designers awarded one best project and two prize winners in each of the 20 categories. Additionally, two special prizes were awarded independent in the categories of “Next Generation” (architects under 40 years of age) and “Charity”.
The criteria for the competition was to submit projects which have been completed after 2008 and are characterized by high quality and functionality as well as innovative uses of space, material, colour, and surface.
