
Fujairah, United Arab Emirates : Thumbay Hospital Fujairah marked World Diabetes Day with a dedicated Walkathon aimed at promoting healthy living and raising awareness about diabetes. The initiative reinforced this year’s theme by encouraging the community to understand diabetes, recognize its risks, and take proactive steps toward better health. More than 500 participants joined the event, including representatives from government bodies, the Emirates Red Crescent, social and cultural clubs, and schools, demonstrating strong community support for individuals living with diabetes.
The Walkathon commenced from Thumbay Hospital Fujairah and proceeded to the Fujairah Football Stadium Roundabout, with participants walking from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The event brought together hospital staff, government organizations, educational institutions, community associations, and corporate groups, all united in raising awareness about diabetes and its growing prevalence in the UAE. Participants carried banners and placards emphasizing the importance of preventive health and lifestyle modification.

Adding to this, Dr. C.R. Sathyanarayanan, Medical Director and Head of Internal Medicine at Thumbay Hospital Fujairah, said:

In addition to the walkathon, Thumbay Hospital offered free diabetes eye check-ups, free consultations on pain management, and free blood pressure and blood sugar testing, enabling participants to assess their health status and receive expert guidance on managing and preventing diabetes.
