Kochi: Trains and other public transportation facilities in India should be made disability-friendly, emphasized swimmer and State Youth Icon awardee Aasim Velimanna. He was speaking on the topic “Humans Without Limits” at The Summit of Future 2026, organized by Jain Deemed-to-be University, Kochi.
World record-holding skydiver Syam Kumar S.S., who also participated in the discussion, highlighted that, in addition to public transport, basic facilities should be accessible to persons with disabilities, and the relevant laws must be effectively implemented. He further stressed that India could take inspiration from other countries to bring about meaningful change in this regard.
“The value we give to our dreams determines their success, and my parents have been my greatest support,” said Aasim Velimanna. “Life presents challenges for everyone, and we must be mentally prepared to face them.”
Syam Kumar added that he pursued his dreams with his family’s support. “Obstacles are inevitable, but determination to move forward is what matters,” he emphasized.
They also expressed pride in being invited to the summit and gratitude for the audience. Moderator Midhila Jose noted that the discussion on “Humans Without Limits” raises the question of whether our efforts are truly sufficient. Tom Joseph, Director of New Initiatives at Jain University, conveyed his appreciation to both speakers.
