ZELIO Ebikes, a leading force in India’s electric two-wheeler market, has officially launched its first-ever e-rickshaw models—Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS—marking its entry into the rapidly growing e-rickshaw segment. These models, designed with both urban and semi-urban commuters in mind, start at INR 1,45,000 INR for the Tanga Butterfly and INR 1,40,000 INR for the Tanga SS, ex-showroom. Both models were first showcased to great acclaim at the EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi last month.
The launch of the Tanga Butterfly (constructed with MS – Mild Steel) and Tanga SS (constructed with SS – Stainless Steel) expands ZELIO’s product lineup beyond two-wheelers and into the shared mobility sector, a move driven by the increasing demand for last-mile connectivity solutions in India.
Both models boast a top speed of 30 km/h and deliver an impressive range of 100 km on a single charge. Powered by a 1200W motor, they run on a 48/60V 135Ah Eastman battery, with a charging time of 8 hours. To ensure safe and efficient charging, both e-rickshaws come with an SMPS charger featuring voltage fluctuation protection. Customers will have a wide variety of color options to choose from: the Tanga Butterfly will be available in Red, Grey, White, Sky Blue, and Military Green, while the
Tanga SS will come in Blue, Red, Sea Blue, Parrot Green, and Grey.

The Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS come with advanced braking systems, featuring a front lever-operated drum brake and a rear paddle-operated drum brake, along with a mechanical hand lever-operated parking brake. For a smoother ride, they are equipped with 43mm telescopic hydraulic shockers at the front and leaf spring shockers at the rear. Both models come with TVS-made 3.75-12 mm tires for both the front and rear wheels. The chassis is built with a high-rigidity monocoque frame, ensuring durability and safety. With dimensions including a wheelbase of 2030 mm, a length of 2690 mm, a width of 1000 mm, a height of 1710 mm, and a ground clearance of 200 mm, these rickshaws are perfectly suited for urban and semi-urban road conditions.
In addition to the core technical specifications, the e-rickshaws come equipped with a range of features designed for driver and passenger convenience. These include a wide front glass with a wiper, a stepney with cover, handle lock, FM radio with double speakers, digital meter, central locking, heavy curtains, taxi light, LED cabin light, LED headlamps with DRL, LED indicators, a bottle holder, and a cash pocket. Common accessories for both models include a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tool kit, and jack.
ZELIO is also offering financing options through AKASHA and TRY Wheels to make the purchase process smoother. Furthermore, ZELIO’s commitment to creating a dedicated dealership network ensures that customers receive specialized support and services for this new category.
