  • India to Host 8th Asian Network for Quality Congress

    New Delhi, India:

    • The ANQ Congress with participation from 20 countries including Japan, China, Korea Singapore, Russia, USA and UK is expected to scrutinize and debate on the role of Asian model of growth and development .

    • A quest for a new definition of quality that may lead to prosperity in a holistic way

    The 8TH ASIAN NETWORK FOR QUALITY CONGRESS (October 19th-22, 2010) promises to be a truly international quality event of the highest order. Hosted by Quality Council of India (QCI) & Indian Society for Quality (ISQ), the ANQ congress will act as an international forum for interfacing on critical issues related to Quality for inclusive growth of Asia. Shri V Krishnamurty, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council & Member PM’s Council on Trade and Industry is the chairman of the 8TH ASIAN NETWORK FOR QUALITY CONGRESS.

    The ANQ is essentially a platform for exchange of innovative ideas, practice and processes adopted in Asian countries for improving productivity and quality performance of various sector of the economy.

    “Quality for Inclusive Growth of Asia”, is the theme of ANQ Congress Delhi 2010 and is directly related to the ANQ Goal of ‘Quality of Human Life’ which states: “Contributing to the ‘Quality of Human Life’ where people live with dignity and achieve balance in fulfilling physical, emotional , intellectual and self-actualization needs in harmony with nature.”

    The theme of the Congress is to share experiences in developing new approaches for sustainable economic growth of Asian Nations. The concurrent sessions of the congress are therefore uniquely designed, with a wide footprint that address transformation needs of an entire nation across its various sectors, like Manufacturing and Infrastructure, IT&ITES, Services, Healthcare, Government (Quality in Parliament), Education, Social & Environment.

    Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India, keynote speaker at the congress, will address the congress during the inaugural session. Other keynote speakers include Professor Shoji Shiba, Internationally Renowned Management Expert & Teacher & Mr Gong Xun, Director of Quality, Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd. & Prof Noriaki Kano, creator of the world famous “KANO” model will also address the congress.

    The unique feature of the 8th ANQ congress is that a separate session has been incorporated on Government that will include a special session on “Quality in Parliament”. This session is expected to evaluate effective decision making process, citizen centric governance and overall quality of Governance in India with reference to citizen welfare.

    In this session the congress will be addressed by renowned national and international parliamentarians like Mr. VK Agnihotri, Secretary General Rajya Sabha, Shri Sitaram Yechuri, Shri NK Singh and others.

    Contrary to the western model it is believed that the Asian Way can make a useful contribution in developing an alternative model through a new definition of quality that may lead to prosperity in a holistic way, in balance with the nature and within the composite nature of the human being.

    On this occasion Dr. Giridhar J Gyani, Secretary General QCI, and host of the congress observed “The fact that the 8th ANQ congress is taking place in India, itself indicates the maturing of quality movement in India. We expect to come across some brilliant and innovative ideas in course of the congress. Surely, the congress will provide us guidance in working out a road map for empowering our citizens to demand quality in every walk of life. Quality is not a zero- sum game, when we achieve high quality we all win leading to shared prosperity for all. Shared prosperity implies a democratic state of economic freedom.”
