    Published on March 28, 2012

Hyderabad:  Desi Cow Utsav, a first of its kind and very unique event organised jointly by Dr. BRKR Government Ayurvedic College and Charaka Dairy  to spread the importance of Desi Cow Milk kicked off here in city today at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road.  The three day event which will be open to till 30th March was inaugurated today morning by Dr. K.P. Srivasuki, IFS, CEO, A.P. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Board, Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering immediately after inaugurating the same Dr. K.P Srivasuki, CEO, A.P. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Board said Cow in its lifespan feeds 4,40,000people.  One cow is sufficient enough to do farming in 30 acres. Desi Cow Utsav is a very laudable program to highlight the importance of Desi Cow to present generation, who may not know so much about Indian Cow. He appreciated Dr. BRKR Government Ayurvedic College and Charaka Dairy  for organising such a wonderful event. And added that Desi Cows due to flappy-neck and Suryaketu nadi abosrobs cosmic energy because of which Cows have great immunity power. That is how cows are very useful medicinally.  Adding further he appealed to all the those farmers and Dairy Farm owner who nuture Desi Cows also to grow medicinal plants particularly Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), a climbing plant which grows in low jungles areas throughout India. Consumption of Shatavari stimulates milk production and nurtures the ovaries he said.  Shatavari is Sanskrit for, “she who posses one hundred husbands” and in ayurvedic medicine of ancient India it is considered the most important rejuvenative plant for women he said.  And informed that to encourage growing of Shatavari, A.P. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Board is offering Rs 3700 per acre as subsidy.  The board has extended financial assistance to Krushi Vignana Kendra in Jammikunta in Karimnagar District to the extend of Rs 20 laksh for setting up a nursery of medicianal plants.

He added that the herb Coleus forskohlii is another important medicinal plant which has a long-standing important role in fighting obesity. And the government is preparing a plan to help farmers grow these plants in about 4000acres in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier welcoming the gathering Dr. B. L.N. Sastry, Director of Charaka Dairy Pvt. Ltd. Said Desi Cow is different from hybrid varieties.  We had 51 different breeds of Desi Cows in the past. Most of them are extinct now. And only 29 varieties of cows are left. Off which 10 to 12 varieties of Cows are being showcased at the Desi Cow Utsav. We see some genetically modified hybrid varieties of cows giving 200 litres of milk in many western countries.  Normal cow gives less than 40 litres of milk whereas desi cows give only 4 litres per day.  In case of Desi Cows, the yield is less but value is more. Genetically modified hybrid variety of cow’s milk consists of BCM 7, which is an opium family element.

Charaka Samhita, the ancient text on Indian Medicine, strongly recommends the use of Desi Cow products for the treatment of various ailments. The pure Indian breed desi cow produces A2 milk, which contains less Betacosmophorine-7 (BCM-7), as opposed to the hybrid cows which produce A1 milk due to a change in the 67th amino acid position from Histedine to INOLEUCINE. Thus while A2 milk is the healthier option, A1 milk contains 9-12 gms of BCM-7, associated with diseases like High Blood Pressure, Metabolic Degenerative Diseases, Autism, Diabetes Type-1 in children, Mental Disorder in old age, sudden death syndrome in infants, etc.

So most of the western countries are now going back to basic Indian breeds to avoid problems. Desi Cow milk consists of A2 milk. Researchers are working backwards to go back to basic breeds.

Giving more details Dr. B.L.N.Sastry said that Desi Cow basically means, DESI Cows of our indigenous breeds, which posses certain inherent divine virtues. The Indian Cow belongs to Bos indicus variety. They have high shoulder, flappy-neck and Suryaketu nadi on the back are easy differentiators of the variety. It is believed that Suryaketu nadi absorbs medicinal essences from atmosphere and makes milk, urine and cow dung more nourishing. Cows are born with immunity to diseases. Because of this reason, America and Europe import Indian cows, cross breed with local varieties to improve their immunity.

Desi Cows have Amino Acid Proline at 67th position of 209 element DNA. In European Cows Proline got replaced with Histidine by mutation that took place some 8000 years ago during migration of the cows from warmer regions of India to colder regions of Europe Mr. Sastry added.  .

World wide diary scientists have also discovered that BCM-7 (Beta Caso Morphine 7) is a highly toxic opioid is found in the milk of HF cows. This milk is designated as type A1 and has been found to be strongly linked with a large number of human diseases starting from Austim, Pediatric Diabetes to Cardiac Artery Diseases, Arthritis, Arteriosclerosis, Alzheimer and Parkinsons.

Cow is the mother of the universe. It helps in agriculture, transportation, food, medicine, sports, industry, religious functions, emotional stability, economy. From time immemorial, Cow has a special place in Indian Society.

Desi Cow milk is like Amruthm, because it has amino acids which make its protein easily digestible and is good for kidney. It is a rich source of Vitamins like B2, B3 and A which help increasing immunity.  Cow Milk helps in reducing acidity, a common problem today and reduces chances of peptic ulcer and help in reducing chances of colon, breast and skin cancer.  Desi Cow milk helps reducing formation of serum cholesterol and is one of the best natural anti-oxidants.

Speaking about how Desi Milk is Amrit, Dr Sastry said Amrit means Ambrosia or Nectar.  It also means Immortal.  This is because Amrit sustains and promotes life and health.  Desi Cow Milk is like Amrit because it does not cause cholesterol problems, promotes stong bones, good source of iodine etc and others.

After mother’s milk, it is only the cow’s milk which gives energy and full protection.  Desi Cow Milk is the wholesome food.  Cow’s milk is complete diet.  One pound of cow’s milk is more than 4 eggs and 250gms flesh.  Buffaloes’ milk is more fatty and indigestible where as cow’s milk is easily digestible.  100gms of Cows Milk contains, Phosphorous 0.93 gms, Calcium 1.20gm, Iron 0.002 gm including vanadium, chromium, tin, aluminium, abhrak and sisa.  It has 25 types of minerals said Mr. Sastry.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. N. Satya Prasad, Incharge Principal of Dr. BRKR Government Ayurvedic College stated that it is be a big Mela along with Exhibition and concurrent Workshops and Seminars will be held in next three days. The Utsav is showcaing several different breeds of cows live. The harsh reality is that out of many indigenous breeds of cows only 29 breeds are existing now. The influx of non-indigenous cows breeds and lack encouragement for the commercial production of Desi Cow Milk is reason for the current state-of-affairs.  Some of the cow breeds being showcased are brought from across India and they include:  Gir, Sahiwal, Red Sindhi, Rathi, Tharparkar, Deoni, Haryana, Kankrej, and Ongole.

A big size Kamadhenu, the sacred cow, which grants all wishes and desires was on display at the venue. The 9 feet Cow of Plenty is designed by Mr. V.N. Sai Mani, Cine Art Director.  A Thermocol covered with plaster of paris, it took ten days for 8 artisans to design what it is.  Workshops and Seminars were held and several farmers and general public actively participated and claried doubts.  These were conducted by Ayurvedic Doctors. The entire venue is decked up with posters with information highlighting the significance of Desi Cow Milk informed Mr. Surya Narayana Reddy, Chairman.

Free consultations were provided by Ayurvedic Doctors on various health problems including Skin Compaints, ENT, Digestive Problems, Joint Pains, Respiratory Ailments, Obesity, Infertility and othe chronicl health disorders.  Lot of visitors seen utilising these facilities.

For the people with spiritual bent of mind a unique opportunity is provided to have Saptha Cow Pradakshina. Food and Medical Stalls are also be set up. Visitors were busy buying Ayurvedic Products and booking Cow Milk produced by Charaka Dairy.  Soon Charaka Dairy will supply Desi Cow Milk.

All in all this is a unique event unheard before to showcase various breeds of cows, highlighting importance of cow milk in our lives and many other educative and awareness activities

On conservative estimation about 10,000 people are expected to visit the Desi Cow Utsav on three days put together. Right from the morning large number of visitors visited Desi Cow Utsav.  And nearly 3000 people visited on the day one. There is no entry fee. Anybody and everybody can visit. It will be open to public from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. The organisers have made elaborate arrangements. Cultural programmes and spiritual programmes will be held in the evening.

      Really great,
there is wide scope for the indian cows,
we have imported foreign genetic material to increase milk production in our breeds by cross breeding. But looking to A2 material, which our breeds had, they will purchase our genetic material for their cross breeding programme to introduce our A2 materila in their breeds.
