    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, India has taken up the movement to embrace digital transactions with an unprecedented modivigour while stating that Digi-Dhan Mela organised in Goa yesterday saw a wide scale participation. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, thanked people and said, every Digi-Dhan mela is a fine way of learning about digital payments and even inspiring others to use digital means.

    A large number of people from different walks of life actively participated in the mela in Panaji yesterday, with a commitment for cashless society. Bank stalls, common service centre stall, Aadhaar camp, and stalls by Mobile Wallet Provider Companies were part of the mela.

    Inaugurating the mela, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar appealed to people to use various electronic transaction methods. He said, cashless transactions will help curb tax evasion, and will also bring accountability in the economy. Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar expressed confidence that the state will march ahead in digital transactions as it has high literacy with digital awareness. Earlier, DigiDhan Mela was organised at Gurugram in Haryana as well as at Ludhiana in Punjab. As many as 100 such fetes will be organised throughout the country till 14th of April next year.
