  • In a boost to Indo-US strategic ties, Prime Minister Modi meets Defence Secretary in Singapore

    On last day of his three-day visit to Singapore on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi met US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis.

    The meet assumes significance in backdrop of the United States renaming its Pacific Command as Indo-US Pacific Command while giving further impetus to strategic ties between the two countries.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

    Both the leaders discussed on various issues of mutual interest.

    PM Modi and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong unveiled a plaque marking the site where the immersion of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi took place at the Clifford Pier in Singapore.

    Later in the day, PM Modi also visited National Orchid Garden and will be visiting Chullia Mosque. He will also visit Sri Mariamman Temple which is Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple. Then PM Modi will visit Indian Heritage Centre which showcases the culture, heritage, and history of Indian Singaporeans.

    Before emplaning for India, PM Modi will go to Changi Naval Base where he shall visit Indian Naval Ship INS Satpura and interact with officers and sailors of the Indian Navy and Royal Singapore Navy.
