    Mumbai : The foyer of R City, Ghatkopar (W) will come alive with electrifying music, eclectic dance, enticing workshops, quirky flea markets and unique art installations from today, Fri. 15th 6 p.m. onwards to Sun. 24th February 2019. All this excitement comes together under one roof as part of the R City Art Festival 2019.

    Now citizens of the Navi Mumbai, central & western suburbs of Mumbai will no longer have to shudder at the thought of travelling long distances to far off points of the city to experience the best of art, music, dance, culture, installations etc.

    The ten day extravaganza will be inaugurated by Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal at 6 pm amidst a lot of fun and fanfare.

    Mr. Sanjay Daga, Chief Operating Officer, Runwal Developers, said “R City is pleased to open its doors to a wave of art, culture and entertainment such as has never been seen before in the central suburbs of Mumbai. We are setting new benchmarks as retail meets art at R City. Visitors will be enthralled and overwhelmed with the plethora of activities to choose at R City, a destination known for eclectic fun, fashion, shoppertainment and best of F&B choices. ”

    Mr. Rajiv Malla, CEO Malls, Runwal Developers said “With this art festival, the retail offering of Runwal Group will, see a confluence of epic proportions where installations, literature, workshops, theatre, dance shows and music performances will cater to the sensibilities of visitors”.

    Visitors will be spoilt for choice as they choose from a long list of interesting workshops where they can have fun and learn new hobby skills ranging from bird folding from paper, block printing, mosaic work, charcoal workshop, paper hat making, cooking, caricature, Lipian art, art jewellery making, sand painting, decoupage, dance, pottery etc.

    Here’s a glimpse into the unique, innovative and thought-provoking installations which will dot every nook and cranny of R City:

     

    • ‘Laal’ by artist Hetal Shukla: Inspirated by our ex-Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastriji’s life of pure integrity, this installation is an enquiry into what it takes for a human being today to elevate his principles to that level.

     

    • ‘Roots to the sky’ by Jyoti Devjyani: A play-filled childhood ensures a bright future. Artist: Toybank – Development Through Play, Rachana Sansad – School of Interior Design, Arzan Khambatta

     

    Shoppers will have a field day choosing from handicrafts and weaves from Manipur, cute décor items, different artefacts from Maharashtra, sculptures, paining and artefacts and bags made out of scrap.

    While the adults engage with the Fest in areas of their interest, the children will be occupied with games of their interest like life-size Snakes & Ladders and Tic Tac Toe.

     

    R City was the presenting sponsor for Kala Ghoda Arts Festival held from 2nd-10th Feb this year.
