Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued tax refunds worth of 26 thousand 242 crore rupees to over 16.84 lakh tax assessees since 1st of April to 21st of this month. In a statement, the CBDT said that Income Tax refund to over 15.81 lakh  assesses amounting to 14 thousand 632 crore rupees and corporate tax refund to over one lakh assesses amounting to 11 thousand 610 crore rupees have been given during this period.

CBDT added that refund process has been further expedited at a greater pace following Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s announcement in the Atamanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan in the last week.
