  • The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating effect on the entire globe for the majority of 2020. Most countries across the world had imposed strict lockdown as well as closed their borders for international traveling. Eventually, as the contamination rate of this virus decreased, some countries reopened international borders to resume economic activities. This also resumed the opportunity for recreational tourism, educational tourism, work tourism, medical tourism, etc.

While some countries have strict guidelines for international travelers, others now allow free flow of tourists from most countries. If you are planning to take a trip outside India, you should know about the various places that now allow travelers from India.

In this blog, we have enlisted the countries that have reopened their international borders and accept Indian travelers.

    India

As an Indian citizen, it is necessary to have international borders open to travel outside India. Currently, India has reopened international borders for all activities. However, not all international flights have resumed. There are only certain flights plying to and from India under the name of ‘Vande Bharat’. These flights are primarily in use to bring back Indian citizens from foreign countries and transporting foreign citizens back to their countries. These flights can also be used for other purposes but you might need special permission to travel to other countries depending on their guidelines.

    Taiwan

Taiwan has been very successful in handling the spread of this pandemic. The international borders have reopened for all movements to and from this country. Visitors don’t need special permission for traveling to Taiwan. Although, international tourists need to quarantine themselves for 14 days before venturing outside. The alleged origin of this pandemic has now successfully contained the contamination of coronavirus. The international borders opened up as early as May 2020. Now, India too has resumed flights to and from China, primarily to bring back strangulated Indian citizens but can also be used for tourism purposes.

    Thailand

International flights for Thailand started on July 1st, 2020. However, this flight was specifically for Thai citizens. On September 1st, 2020, international borders opened up to resume all economic and tourism activities. Currently, there are no direct flights from India to Thailand.

    Maldives

Maldives is one of the most exotic places for taking a rejuvenating trip. It is an affordable and a beautiful place to visit. The country opened its border for international tourists on July 15th, 2020. The tourists visiting the island must stay in a particular hotel or resort and must fill up a self-declaration form. COVID-19 test is not mandatory in the country but if someone shows the symptoms, they would need to get a test.

Traveling amid this pandemic is not very safe. This is why you should remember to buy travel insurance. If you decide to travel outside India, check for all the guidelines of the destination country. Stay safe while traveling abroad and follow all the safety and hygienic precautions at all times.
