• Over 1500 runners participated in the 5K Fun Run

Hyderabad : As Hyderabad gears up for the 10th Edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon on 19th December, newbie runners revelled in the 5K Fun Run that was flagged off today at the University of Hyderabad.

Shri Ramesh Reddy, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police flagged off the 5K Fun Run at University of Hyderabad in the presence of Prof. Basuthkar Jagadeeshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor – University of Hyderabad, Shri Avneet Singh Puri, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Telangana and AP and Shri Kalyan from KLM fashion mall as well as the organising team from Hyderabad Runners Society.

Over 1500 runners assembled at the University of Hyderabad at 7:00am today morning for the 5K Fun Run, which also happened to be a curtain raiser for Hyderabad’s flagship running event, the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon. Celebrating the 10th Edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2021, the organising committee Hyderabad Runners Society, introduced the 5K Fun Run encouraging novice runners, children as well as adults, to discover the joy of running and also be part of the premier annual event. It also had enthusiastic runners come in colorful costumes and some supporting different social causes. Runners in best costumes were awarded handsome prizes by KLM Fashion Mall.

It also culminated a 6-week long training, conducted across twin cities with a program named Kouch to 5K. This initiative of Hyderabad Runners brings in people from various walks of life to take up heathy lifestyle into their routine.

On December 19, 2021, the annual sporting extravaganza Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2021 celebrating sports and healthy life, will kick off the Full Marathon (42.195 kms) and Half Marathon (21.095 kms) at 5:00am and 6:00am respectively at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road and 10K Run will be flagged off at 7:00 am at the Hitex Exhibition Center.
