    ‘DAM999’ vies for 2011 OSCARS

    ‘DAM999’, a movie that was in the limelight in recent days is gearing up to make it big with the OSCARS.  The movie is being shortlisted among the films that made to the ballot list for the 2011 Academy Awards.

    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced, “Two hundred sixty-five feature films are eligible for the 2011 Academy Awards” and joining this list is the debut venture of Sohan Roy – ‘DAM999’.  http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/rules/reminderlist.html

    The movie had a week long Oscar Qualifying Screening at Los Angeles in October, which was a huge success.

    As icing on the cake, another achievement for the movie is that of the final thirty nine songs selected for the Academy’s Original Songs category, three songs are credited to the movie ‘DAM999’.

    The songs selected from the movie are ‘DAM999-Theme Song’; ‘Dakkanaga Dugu Dugu’ and ‘Mujhe Chodke’. The lyrics are penned by the debut director, Sohan Roy and the music composer for the movie is the renowned music director, Ousephachan.

    National award winner Hariharan gave his voice to the Hindi song; ‘Mujhe Chod Ke’ and vocals for the other two shortlisted songs were lent by Suchith, Suvi & Shakthisree.

    “This is a crowning achievement for ‘DAM999’ and my dream project has attained the true recognition it deserves”, said Sohan Roy.

    The 84th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

    Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network.  The Oscar® presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
