    Published on April 24, 2024

New Delhi : Samaya Chauhan, 15, a student of Amity International School, Pushp Vihar was conferred with the Big Impact Award for social impact in the area of Mental Wellbeing amongst youth. She is the youngest person to have received this award for her efforts in the field.

Over the last few years, Samaya has gone to great lengths to raise awareness about mental health in youth, particularly the detrimental impacts of bullying and social media trolling on mental health. Through her campaigns she has conducted several camps, training programs and workshops working alongside mental health experts, to benefit 50,000+ students nationwide.

Speaking about her endeavors, Samaya says “India has the highest prevalence of online harassment, with over 33% of children experiencing online bullying; what happens face to face is at times, far worse, and long-lasting. The trauma inflicted in childhood can progressively deepen if corrective action isn’t taken in time. My attempts seek to tackle this problem head-on, by identifying bullying behaviors and providing support and strength to students and their families who are suffering.”

She expresses gratitude for receiving the award and is honored to have been presented with the award by renowned management expert and author, Shiv Khera. She is confident of reaching many more students and amplifying their voices in the fight against bullying.

Her plans include partnering with educational institutions and organizations in urban and rural areas, so she can permeate the grassroots and help curb suicidal thoughts that have caused more than 10,000 students under 18 years to lose their lives.

The Big Impact Awards organized by Big FM, one of the leading radio networks in India, felicitates businesses and changemakers who have left an indelible mark on society through their work. The event attracts eminent personalities from all walks of life.
