The government has said that nearly 36 lakh 19 thousand farmers have been benefitted from the ongoing Rabi Marketing Season procurement operations with MSP value of 69 thousand 912 crore rupees. Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a statement said that Procurement of Wheat in ongoing Rabi Marketing Season 2021-22 is continuing smoothly in the procuring States and Union Territories. They include  Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu and  Kashmir and Bihar. The Ministry said, so far a quantity of over 353  Lakh Metric Tonnes of Wheat has been procured against the last year corresponding purchase of over 268 Lakh Metric Tonnes.

 
The Ministry also said, on the request of Government of Punjab, it has been decided by the Centre to reschedule the Wheat procurement period in Punjab from 10th April to 13th May, 2021 in place of 10th April to 31st May 2021 during Rabi Marketing Season. The Ministry also added that so far, an  all-time record quantity of over 131 Lakh Metric Tonnes Wheat has been procured in Punjab in Central Pool.
