  • 43rd IFFI: Punjabi film “Andhey Ghorey Da Daan” bags Golden Peacock award

    “Andhey Ghorey Da Daan” a Punjabi film directed by Gurvinder Singh and Golden Pea cockproduced by National Film Development Corporation, has bagged the Golden Peacock award of the International Film Festival of India, IFFI. The award carries a Golden Peacock and a cash prize of 20 lakh rupees. The Silver Peacock with a cash prize of 15 lakh rupees has gone to “Una Noche” directed by Lucy Mullay.

    With this, the curtains came down on the 43rd edition of the IFFI today at a glittering function held at Campal Football grounds at Panaji in Goa this evening. Telugu Film Superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna who was the chief guest, gave away the awards with the Goa Governor Dr. Bharat Vir Vanchoo and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parriker.

    Silver peacock award for best female actress went to Anjali Patil for the film “With and without you” while Marcin Dorocinki bagged the best male actor award. Both the awards carry a silver peacock and a cash prize of 10 lakhs each. The other silver peacock award of 15 lakh rupees for best director award went to Kyu-hwan-Jeon for the film “The weight”. Mira Nair’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” won the Centenary award of a silver peacock and a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees.
