In Denmark Open Badminton, Saina Nehwal and Sameer Varma in their single’s category and women’s double pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy have stormed into quarterfinals of the tournament in Odense on Thursday.

Saina defeated Japan’s World number two Akane Yamaguchi 21-15,21-17. This is Saina’s first win on Yamaguchi in last four years. Last time, Saina defeated Yamaguchi in 2014 in China Open.  Saina will take on Nojomi Okuhara of Japan tomorrow.

In Men’s Singles, Sameer Varma defeated Indonesia’s Joanathan Christy 23-21,6-21,22-20 in a close contest.

In the Women’s Doubles Round-of-16, Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy have defeated South Korean team of Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan 18-21, 22-20, 21-18 to get a birth in quarter-finals.

Another match in the men’s singles category will be played between Seventh seed Srikanth and China’s Lin Dan later today.
