  • India: They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But imagine if a photo caption was worth a free trip to Melbourne!

Tourism Victoria, the official State Tourism Organisation for the Government of Victoria, Australia, has announced  the launch of ‘Melbourne Moments’, an exciting new social media campaign that aims to showcase the splendor and magic of Victoria through images.

The campaign which is scheduled to run till 20th July includes a competition where Facebook users across India can browse images taken by Atul Kasbekar, India’s renowned celebrity fashion photographer, and vote for their favourite photo.

Atul Kasbekar has captured the essence of Victoria’s most iconic attractions including breathtaking snapshots of the Great Ocean Road, Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island and Yarra Valley, along with shots of the inner city. The campaign allows Facebook users to browse through the photographs and vote for their absolute favorite. Users can then let their imaginations run wild and suggest a caption for their favorite image. The photograph with the maximum votes will be announced as the winner, and the author of the best caption for that photograph will win an unforgettable holiday to Melbourne including airfares and 3 night’s accommodation.

Ten other innovative and witty captions will win framed photographs of Melbourne, autographed by Atul Kasbekar himself.

Fans can tweet their favorite pictures, and can share and invite their friends to use the Facebook application as well.

India is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing inbound tourism markets. 71,600 Indian visitors vacationed in Victoria in 2012, an increase of 16.4 per cent over the previous 12 months. This project by Tourism Victoria is aimed at further generating interest in the destination. Positioning Melbourne as the ideal romantic and stylish holiday venue, this campaign targets those aged 25 years and above. Mr. Kasbekar’s photographs perfectly complement the initiative as his work explores every fascinating aspect of Victoria.
