  • ACEC/MA Announces Arup as a 2021 Engineering Bronze Excellence Award Winner for their work on the MA DOER Energy Resilience Study

    Published on December 7, 2021

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Arup as a 2021 Bronze Engineering Excellence Award winner for their work on the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Energy Resilience Study.

The Massachusetts DOER established key initiatives aiming at enhancing energy resiliency through the deployment of clean energy technologies and strategies protecting communities from energy service interruptions during severe weather events. Arup was selected as DOER’s consultant to perform a study identifying opportunities where clean energy technologies could be used to increase the energy resilience at twelve critical care facilities around the Commonwealth, thereby reducing the likelihood of prolonged outages during extreme weather events. The study’s approach looked at both resiliency and clean energy, providing operational redundancy and moving away from fossil fuels and reducing GHG emissions.

The 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards were recently announced and will be celebrated at the virtual ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. The awards celebrate innovation, ingenuity, and excellence in engineering achievement.

“The ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence Awards Competition recognizes engineering achievements that demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity,” said Scott A. Miller PE, President of ACEC/MA and Vice President and Regional Vice President for Haley Ward “We celebrate this year’s outstanding engineering achievements, congratulate our winners and thank them for their contributions to improving the quality of our everyday lives.”
