  • ACEC/MA Announces Thornton Tomasetti as a winner of Bronze Engineering Excellence Award for their work on the Peabody Essex Museum Renovation

    SALEM, MA :The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Thornton Tomasetti as a winner of their 2020 Bronze Engineering Excellence Award for their work on the Peabody Essex Museum Renovation in Salem, MA.

    The 2020 Engineering Excellence Awards were recently announced and will be celebrated at the 2021 ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. The awards celebrate innovation, ingenuity, and excellence in engineering achievement.

    The Peabody Essex Museum Renovation provides a new gallery wing and a south-facing Asian Garden, and renovations to the existing Asian Export Art Wing and East India Marine Hall. The 40,000-square-foot expansion features dedicated gallery space, a light-filled atrium and a group entrance. There is also a new 5,000-square-foot-garden, with unique water features and plantings that offers an inviting space to sit and relax and contemplate. Rising three stories and adding a handsome façade to the Essex Street pedestrian way, the new wing enhances the older sections of the museum while providing space dedicated to presenting the museum’s extensive collection.
