  • According to multiple news sources, Airtel and other telecom operators are supposedly going to increase prepaid tariff rates by the end of this year. Estimated price hike may be anywhere around 10-12%. During the end of last year too, they had increased their rates for prepaid recharge plans. The move might come as a part of their plan to increase telecom operator’s average revenue per user.

    Last year, Indian telecom companies had announced that they were going to hike the recharge rates by almost 20% to sustain.

    Airteltez portal has a BG Agent advisory update about using local language

    Airtel’s retailer and distributor portal, also called as Airteltez, has a BC Agent advisory that can be seen right below the login form. The advisory focuses on the use of local language to make customers understand the services offered by the company. It insists its agents use regional languages for explanation of banking service to its customers.

    Airtel also insists that agents should not exaggerate the quality of their service and features.

    DTH industry has been crippled, says Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal

    According to a news source, Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal has shown his opinion on why DTH industry, despite having long term opportunity, might have been crippled because of excessive regulations. The new tariff order brought by TRAI a few years back, didn’t only made it complex for the DTH companies to maintain pricing, but also made it uneasy for customers and with no substantial benefit to stakeholders.

    Airtel Payment Bank services launched in Nigeria

    Airtel has launched its mobile banking service in Nigeria. Segun Ogunsanya, CEO of Airtel Africa said that the move will revolutionize financial service in Nigeria. SmartCash Payment Service Bank, a subsidiary of Airtel Africa has been reported to have started its services. The Central Bank of Nigeria had previously issued a license to Airtel for providing financial services through its arm.
