Mumbai : Several business houses, based out of the United Kingdom, have shown their interest for investment in Andhra Pradesh during the second UK South India Business Meet held in London.

The business meet was organized by British South India Chamber of Commerce (BSICC) — an umbrella body of South Indian associations in UK, formed with the intention to raise awareness among British firms to enormous potential opportunities in the South Indian states.

BSICC promotes and defends the interests of UK companies in South India, representing UK businesses to the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, and Tamil Nadu. The first such meeting was held July last year at Houses of Parliament, Westminster in London. Mr Virendra Sharma, Member of Parliament for Ealing Southall, UK, chairs BSICC.

During the meet, Mr K Lakshminarayana, Chief Consultant of Andhra Pradesh Project Facilitators and Consultancy Services Limited, made a presentation on investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh in fields such as tourism, information technology & communications and industrial sectors.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to present the business opportunities in Andhra Pradesh in the committee rooms of the British Parliament to the eminent group of delegates who attended the business meet,” said Lakshminarayana.

“The business meet was a huge success and we had participation of more than 150 delegates from around 100 companies based in United Kingdom and India participating in the meet,” said Mr Srinivas Rao Jalakkam, BSICC Vice-Chair for Andhra Pradesh.

“Following the business meet, we have few UK based companies who are exploring opportunities to invest in Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

During the business meet, two eminent personalities from Andhra Pradesh were awarded in the committee rooms of the British Parliament for their contribution in economic development of the State.

Mr. K. Lakshminarayana was conferred with the “Award for Excellence in Consultancy Services” in recognition of his successful track record as ‘Management Consultant & Adviser’ for various Government Departments / Agencies for the past 10 years.
