  • Mumbai: 31st May is World No Tobacco Day, and Bajaj Electricals Ltd. as part of their CSR initiative has been very vocal with regard to this cause. In fact the past decade has seen the DSCN3093...company promoting the cause amongst its employees and now takes pride in being an almost 100% tobacco free company. Recently the company has taken this drive a little further to extend to those associated with the company like family members of employees, vendors and other external stakeholders.

On the occasion of the 75th year of the company, Bajaj Electricals Ltd. has partnered with the Salaam Bombay Foundation to include one of the city’s major lifelines, the dabbawala community. By educating them on the evils of tobacco consumption and using the 1,00,000 odd dabbas that they deliver every day as a medium, the company hopes to increase consciousness and move towards a tobacco free society.

Chairman & Managing Director of Bajaj Electricals Ltd. Mr. Shekhar Bajaj says “Starting from the inside out we have broken ground and helped employees and their families fight the evils that accompany this crippling addiction. Slowly but surely we have made a difference to their lives and it is this that has motivated us to take the cause further, reaching out to all stakeholders that include our factory and vendors, and eventually each and every Indian. We hope to use the positive stories of those that have given up tobacco consumption as an impetus for others to quit as well. We are honoured to be associated with The Salaam Bombay Foundation on this day and hope to bring about a positive change in our community.”

Bajaj CSR leads this cause both within and outside the company. It is also responsible for other noteworthy activities across the country such as regular blood donation and tree plantation drives, environmental awareness across India, enhancing vocational skills, recognition of women entrepreneurs, SNDT women’s cycle rally from Pune to Kanyakumari.
