  • Bangladesh Film Festival opens in Kolkata

    The third Bangladesh Film Festival 2021 opened in Kolkata on Friday. Information Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the festival as Chief Guest. Minister for Science and Technology, government of West Bengal Bratya Basu and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla joined the festival as the guest of honour, reports the official news agency BSS. 

    The 5-day long Festival will be showcasing 32 Bangladeshi feature films. 

    Film on the life of Prime Minister of Bangladesh ‘Hasina-A Daughter’s Tale’ was the inaugural film of the festival. The film is based on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh.

    ‘Jalaler Golpo’, ‘Krishnopokkho’, ‘Oggatonama’, ‘Rajadhiraj Razzak’, ‘Under Construction’, ‘Debi , ‘Podmo Patar Jol’, ‘Abar Boshonto’, ‘Maya: The Lost Mother’, ‘Na Dorai’, ‘Ankhi O Tar Bandhura’, ‘Fagun Haway’, ‘Iti Tomari Dhaka’, ‘Bhuban Majhi’ and ‘Pora Mon’ are some of the films to be shown during the festival.

    Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said in his inaugural address that India and Bangladesh have to increase their cultural ties so that nothing can create division among the people of the two friendly countries. 

    Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that India-Bangladesh ties are time tested and based on shared sacrifice. He emphasised the need to further enhance the people to people contact between the two countries. 

    The Information Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Hasan Mahmud also inaugurated an art exhibition on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to mark his birth centenary.
