  • Bhutan Beckons: Head to the Heart of the Himalayas this August for Mountain Echoes Literary Festival

    This August, Bhutan beckons all to its humble abode as it gears up for the 9th edition of the Mountain Echoes Literary Festival.

    Presented by the Jaypee Group, the festival is an initiative of the India-Bhutan Foundation, in association with Siyahi, India’s leading literary consultancy, and powered by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan. The distinctive literary, arts and culture festival will be held in Thimphu – the charming capital city of Bhutan.

    The immersive three-day festival is known for bringing together literary stalwarts from across the world in the lap of the Himalayas. This year, the festival celebrates 50th anniversary of establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India and will pay tribute to the rich cultural ties between the two nations.

    Spanning five venues across the city of Thimphu, the 9th edition of the festival will see acclaimed names such as Sarah Kay, Kunzang Choden, Valmik Thapar, Kezang Dorji, Naseeruddin Shah, Chencho Dorji, Dechen Roder, Dave Goulson, Sanjna Kapoor, Esther Syiem, Ratna Pathak Shah, Ritu Dalmia, Nilanjana Roy, Chador Wangmo, Tandin Bidha, Daniel C. Taylor, Usha Uthup and Dr. Sonal Mansingh converge to exchange ideas, stories and experiences over the course of three days.

    Themes which will take center stage this year include Spirituality & Philosophy, Music, Dance, Environmental Conservation, Food, as well as Film & Theatre, among others. The 2018 festival will also explore global and locally relevant subjects related to Natural History, Travel and Poetry, including a tribute to 50 years of the Beatles in India, amongst others.

    General Entry: Free

    Delegate Entry: INR 3,000 per day – the benefits include:

    An access badge that enables entry to the Festival venues. Entry and seating at session venues is on a first-come basis

    Lunch and high-tea at the Festival Hub. The Delegate & Author Food Area is at Royal University of Bhutan (Valid: 23rd – 25thAugust 2018)
