Mumbai : Canon India, a world leader in Digital Imaging Space is all set to celebrate its passion for photography by associating with the annual Delhi Photo Festival, 2013. The two week-long festival will be held at India Habitat Centre from 27th September till 11th October, 2013 and will witness some of the most dignified photographers offering their expertise to amateur photographers, students, teachers, art enthusiasts and participants from other creative fields.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India, said, “Digital SLR is the new found anchor for photography industry in India. With millions of potential photo enthusiasts wanting to create moments, not merely capture them, we see a big momentum in Digital SLR category. Keeping this in mind, Canon is focusing its marketing efforts to see the current DSLR market of 2.5 lac units double in three years’ time which will further help in growing Canon’s DSLR business contribution to 80% of the total camera business by 2015 in India. The new marketing approach of creating variants with combos of lenses and bodies of DSLR is yielding good results. To keep photography relevant to users , applications such as fine art photography , use of lights and shades to create artistic patterns and make feature film with family are few activities being undertaken at the Delhi Photo festival”.
To further solidify the DSLR category, Canon has devised extensive growth plans and strategy of repositioning the brand imagery of moving it from a niche to a mass market category to achieve stronger sustained annual growth to double the size of this market in next 2 years. Canon’s steady move of reaching out to masses begins with the new-age generation and mothers who desire to nurture their kids’ creative instincts. Calling it as the ‘Joy of Photography’, Canon wishes to enhance customer experience whilst capturing the special moments of life. Canon hosts various camera models which are packed with advanced features that will capture the essence of photography for mothers and kids. Canon cameras are preferred options for customers who want to carry light and small yet very high image quality creative tool. Moreover, Canon will also be launching a Digital campaign for reaching out to the target audience in the most effective way.
Coveted to delight its customers with an extra perk at the festival, the company is organizing photo workshops not only for professional photographers, but also budding photography enthusiasts to learn the art of ‘Capturing & Communicating’.
Further to enhance photography culture in India, Canon recently launched an EOS Academy, conducting free and paid workshops; and seminars for Genre Photography at Canon Location and facility. The registration charges range between INR 1500 – INR 2500. These workshops are conducted by a panel of Photography experts and Centre for Photo & Movie Development Team. Canon India plans to conduct over all 100 workshops in a year. The classic EOS camera range has the ability to record movies. With their large image high sensitivity sensors and interchangeable lenses, they are now being used to create mainstream movies for cinema and television. Directors like the shallow depth-of-field that is possible, not to mention the low cost compared to professional camcorders. Cinematographers like versatility in shooting which can be the form factor, light weighted and all conditions shooting capability. EOS DSLR meets the expectations and stands the test of time.
“Photography industry in India has evolved in the past couple of decades where a culture has come into being that binds emotions, aesthetics and people. With advanced technology tools at their disposal, photographers today are pushing the boundaries of creativity, and giving birth to new forms of art which were unthinkable just a decade ago. We are aiming at positioning Digital SLR as the aspirational products for women, mother and kids. Our newly launched EOS Academy aims to spread photography culture across different segments. The workshops organized at Delhi Photo Festival by Canon India aim to foster emerging talent and attract participants of all ages to rejoice and connect through the art of Photography.” Dr. Bharadwaj added.
