Capacity Building and Awareness Workshop on Resource efficiency and Cleaner Production in Tiruppur 27th December 2018

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) are jointly executing a Global Environment Facility (GEF) – World Bank Project ‘Financing Energy Efficiency at MSMEs’. Under the project, BEE, along with PwC India and Tiruppur Exporter’s Association, is organizing an

awareness and capacity building workshop on Resource Efficiency Measures in textiles sector on 27th, December 2018 at Association Hall, Tiruppur Exporter’s Association.

Tirupur, the biggest knitwear exporter from India, contributes to 80% of total cotton knit wear exports from India. There are more than 8500 textile units in the region across various scales of operation. The cluster contributes to more than INR 26000 crores in revenue from exports.

CII is technical consultant for Tiruppur, Erode and Coimbatore region, and is carrying out energy audit in MSMEs under the project. Technical consultant has identified more than 50 resource efficiency measures which will help entire cluster in optimizing the energy consumption and improving resources efficiency, thus making the MSME more competitive.

Several MSME units are undertaking various resource efficiency project implementations, and the need for awareness about resource efficient technologies has emerged as important pre-requisite to wide-spread implementation of resource efficiency and cleaner production.

This Workshop will bring together suppliers and manufacturers of efficient, clean and green technologies to present successful case studies, and build confidence of entrepreneurs on effectiveness of these technologies. All production units in the cluster can avail the benefits of the program through the cross learning and one to one discussions with technology providers.

Entrepreneurs can also interact with SIDBI officials to understand more about SIDBI finance schemes and financing arrangements. At the same time this event will facilitate to onboard new industries which can reap the benefits of the project.
