  • Macao :  The Venetian Macao has brought the ever popular Venetian Carnevale back for another year. The signature free-admission springtime extravaganza is on for the fifth officialsuccessive year and features a variety of world-class performances and festivities at the outdoor lagoon area of the integrated resort. As the festival period coincides with St. Patrick’s Day, that celebration has been added this year too. Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, the fun and festivities at the integrated resort run from now until March 29.

The festival’s opening ceremony Friday at The Venetian Macao’s lagoon area was officiated by Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of the Macau Government Tourist Office; Paola Guida, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Commission; and Dave Horton, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands China Ltd. The launch was a taste of things to come with a fantastically festive atmosphere, helped along by The Venetian Macao’s signature Streetmosphere performers entertaining guests.

“We’re so proud to present this fantastic Italian-themed extravaganza for the fifth consecutive year at The Venetian Macao,” said Dave Horton. “Venetian Carnevale has received an incredible amount of positive feedback since it was started four years ago, and it has become one of our signature annual events. It’s an important part of Sands China’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy, aimed at diversifying Macao’s tourism offering, and strengthens the city’s position as a world centre of tourism and leisure and as one of the premier entertainment destinations in the region.”

Due to overwhelming demand, the exciting “Venetian Light Storm” has returned, after the high-energy spectacular made its debut at Venetian Carnevale last year. This time the performers present the world premiere of their new act, featuring the latest Tesla coil technology, which uses electricity to generate a brilliant electric arc effect. The incredible show will see three highly skilled artists – Amy Osborne, Fleur-Marie Hoefkins and Naomi Hunter – harness over 4 million volts of electricity, making this an event that simply cannot be missed.

In addition to “Venetian Light Storm,” the ever-popular Carnevale will give locals and visitors the chance to experience an authentic Italian carnival featuring lots of festive decorations, the incredible Streetmosphere performers, outdoor gondola rides on weekends, and Italian delicacies at Café Venezia. There are also game booths where visitors can play Scooter Shooter and Feed the Clown, and a face painting booth. The family area has also been expanded and now offers even more entertainment, including an array of workshops, a bouncy gondola, LED hula hoops and more. Among the incredible variety of street entertainment at Carnevale 2015 is the lively and musical Sienta La Cabeza – an artistic hairdressing show performed 5-7 pm every day.

As with last year’s Carnevale, visitors will have a chance to contribute to the Macau Association of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped while enjoying all the festivities. Cash donation boxes will be available at the face painting booth and at performances of Sienta la Cabeza for the duration of Venetian Carnevale, with proceeds to benefit the Association.

This year, Venetian Carnevale will also celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the outdoor lagoon area March 17. The event will see green freebies such as wigs, headbands and glasses distributed across the venue, while there will be plenty of beer, Irish dancing and live music to celebrate this uniquely Irish event.

The Venetian Macao’s lagoon area has been transformed into a must-experience exciting outdoor party area where visitors from around the world and locals can mingle and enjoy the Italian-themed festivities, delicacies, live music and incredible performances.
