  • CBM India Trust Hosts Workshop Empowering Postgraduate Students in Disability-Inclusive Development and Accessibility

    Bengaluru  – CBM India Trust, in collaboration with St John’s Medical College, conducted a workshop for postgraduate students in the field of medical sciences. The workshop, held today, Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Bengaluru, focused on Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID), Accessibility, and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health.

    With over 80 postgraduate participants from diverse medical backgrounds, this workshop marks a significant step towards fostering inclusion and enhancing the quality of healthcare services for persons with disabilities.

    In line with this, Mr. Sony Thomas, Executive Director, CBM India Trust commented, “This workshop exemplifies our commitment to promoting inclusion and accessibility within the healthcare system. By equipping postgraduate students with the necessary skills and knowledge, we are paving the way for a more supportive environment for persons with disabilities and their families.”

    Dr. Deepthi N. Shanbhag, Associate Professor, St John’s Medical College expressed, “Building on St. John’s Medical College’s ongoing partnership with CBM India Trust of over two decades, through this initiative, we are reinforcing our dedication to advancing inclusive healthcare practices. This workshop is a unique opportunity for these future healthcare professionals as it empowers them to champion the cause of CBID, accessibility, and the international classification of functioning, thereby enhancing the quality of care for persons with disabilities.”

    The workshop is part of a comprehensive program implemented by CBM India Trust in partnership with St. John’s Medical College, their “Unit of Hope”, and their Community Health Training Centre, Mugalur. The project aims to empower persons with disabilities and their families to achieve greater independence, improve their health through access to quality healthcare, and pursue economic opportunities.
