  • CCEA hikes paddy MSP by Rs 60 for 2016-17 crop year

    In a major decision to benefit the farmers, the government has hiked the minimum support price for paddy for crop season 2016-17 Paddy Crop newby 60 rupees per quintal.

    The minimum support price for paddy will now be 1470 rupees per quintal.

    The decision was taken this morning after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

    The cabinet also approved a Bonus of 425 rupees per quintal for Kharif pulses Arhar Urad and Moong.

    CCEA also approved additional monthly allocation of 41,800 tonnes of foodgrains for BPL families at BPL rates and 20,507 tonnes for APL families at 2/3rd of MSP rates.

    The CCEA also gave its approval for a 51 kilometres broad gauge line between Mau Station and Tarighat Terminal station.

    The estimated cost of the project would be 1765.92 crore rupees and it will be completed in next 6 years.

    Cabinet also gave its ex-post facto approval to proposal for Chennai Metro Rail Phase-I Project from Washermanpet to Wimconagar.

    The Cabinet also gave ts approval for setting up of India Post Payments Bank as Public Limited Company under Department of Posts with 100 per cent government equity.
