    The festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.

    There is Diwali enthusiasm all over. With markets being flocked by scores of people across India, festivals also get employment opportunities.

    Festivals make great occasions. They also bring cheers to needy and downtrodden who make their living by selling several articles by setting up stalls in fairs organised on such occasions.

    Preparations for such fair starts almost a month ahead of the occasion.

    Diwali is one such occasion which is a boon to these craftsmen.

    Such fairs, apart from giving opportunity to mainstream artisans, also empowers the self-employed women, differently abled by offering them opportunity to set up stalls at free of cost.

    The craftsmen are beeming with joy with their sales proceeds of the fair as the opportunity has brought cheers to their destiny at the right time.

    Associated with the religious fervour, this well known Diwali fair not only symbolises social harmony and unity but also provides platform to craftsmen and the disadvantaged, a valuable mode to earn their living.
