In Uttar Pradesh, the month-long Magh Mela began today at Allahabad.

Depite biting cold, a large number of devotees thronged this morning to Sangam, the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna, to take the holy bath.

As part of this festival, devotees stay at Sangam for the entire month of Magh.

Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the festival.

Special Task Force and Quick Response teams have been deployed for the security of pilgrims.
